Music industry business & technology strategist David Hughes is coming on board as a Strategy Advisor for Song Sleuth, bringing with him almost three decades of experience and expertise.
Formerly Vice President of Technology Strategies and Digital Policy for Sony Music in New York, David Hughes’ experience is prolific: he is currently a member of both the Audio Engineering Society and the Recording Academy, as well as the occupant of a seat on the National Recording Preservation Board of the Library of Congress.
He has been working independently as a strategic consultant as of April 2021, advising and helping clients on matters of business and technology, including companies like SoundExchange, Jaxsta, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) – where he previously worked as a Chief Technology Officer – and now, Song Sleuth.
Hughes has also been active in the promotion of Hi-Resolution and Immersive music formats, having also contributed to developing some particularly notable formats and standards, such as MPEG, DVD-Audio, Blu-ray, the International Recording Code (ISRC) and the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI).
With a Master of Management Science from the University of Tsukuba, one of the most prestigious universities in Japan, Hughes is also the inventor of over a dozen patents – both internationally and in the U.S.
